Attend me, o much-honored nurturer
and foster father of Bakchos, by far
the best of the Silenoi, and honored
by all of the gods and mortal humans
at the seasons of triennial feasts,
majestic one worshipped in holy rites,
founder of the mystery of shepherds,
marching in procession, and crying out
“evoe!” Watchful, you lead well-girded
nurses, the Naiades and the Bacchantes
with ivy up to the rite in honor
of all the gods, with all the Satyrs, too,
in the forms of beasts, shouting out to praise
the lord Bakchos. With the Bakchai you lead
the Lenean procession, revealing
the secret rites shining in the night, through
holy rituals, crying evoe!,
shaking a thyrsus, calm in procession.
