I invoke by these prayers Dionysos
Liknites of Nysa, covered in blooms,
yearned for and kindly Bakchos, beloved
sprout of nymphs and fair-crowned Aphrodite,
who once, dancing in the woods, swayed your steps
with graceful nymphs, leading them to frenzy.
And by the will of Zeus, to glorious
Persephone you were brought and reared up,
a friend to the deathless gods. Blessed one,
come, and accept this offered sacrifice.
