Ouranos, source of all, eternal share
of the cosmos, and first born. Origin
of all, and of all the end, o cosmic
father, your turning sphere pivots around
the earth, home of the blessed gods, whirling
like a bull-roarer, spinning, wrapped around
everything, the guardian of heaven
and earth, who holds in his bosom nature’s
irresistible necessity. Blue
skinned, the unbending, sparkling, changeable.
You see all things, blessed father of Kronos,
highest daimon, hear and bring to the new
initiate a life of holiness.
