Hear me, Poseidon, who protects the earth,
the dark-haired horseman, bearing in your hand
a bronze trident, you who dwell in the low
foundations of the deep-chested ocean.
Loud-thundering lord of the briny sea,
earth-shaker and joy-giver, blossoming
in the waves, through which you drive your four-horsed
chariot, splashing through the salty sea.
You won the third share, the deepest currents
of the sea. You delight in waves and beasts
of the water, daimon of the deep. Save
the foundations of the earth, and the ships,
running fast in their advance. Bring us peace,
health, and wealthy happiness without blame.
