Lady Rhea, daughter of many-shaped
Protogonos. Bull-slaying beasts pull
your holy chariot. Frenzy-loving
maiden, the roaring brass and sounding drum
surround you, mother of Zeus, holy lord
of Olympos, who carries the Aigis.
Much honored, lovely and blessed consort
of Kronos, you rejoice in the mountains
and thrilling ritual howls of mortals.
Rhea, queen of all, you raise shouts of war.
The strong-minded and first born, you deceive
and release, savior, mother of the gods
and of mortals, for from you come the earth,
the wide sky, the rivers, the sea, and winds.
Ethereal and ever in motion, come
blessed goddess, a savior with gentle
will. Bring down peace and rich possessions too.
Send death and pollution to the earth’s ends.
